2015 Parapan Am Games News
Get Ready, Get Set: Let's celebrate Inclusion and our Diversity
| |
|
|
|
Welcome to Parapan Am Games dot Com, one of many
websites to support our Pan and Parapan American Games web portal. In this website
we will be bringing you the latest News about Toronto and South-western Ontario's
path to hosting the 2015 Parapan American Games. You will also note that at the top of the news
section we have provided the links to the Toronto2015.org (official website) News Page in English,
French and Spanish: Para traduzir páginas do site thr da web em Português

A funny thing happened developing these sites. The dot ca
versions were developed yet since they needed to be renewed in advance of their renewal date the site I had crafted showing
where the proposed venues of the Parapan Am Games would be (ParaPanAmGames.ca) was
deleted. It worked out well for when I contacted the organising committee in February 2012 they mentioned that they
will re vealing this information within the next few months. Our mission is to fully support the Organising Committee
and will bring you the news as they reveal it to the public.
|
|
Nevertheless we are building hosting websites (versus our
collection of one-page websites) to serve both the Pan and Parapan Am Games. It is very exciting and our involvement
serving children with special needs shares with us an important pulse in these activities. For example
we built the Sensory Room at Variety Village (link below) and know that great funds will be allocated to
renovate this amazing fitness facility the serves people of all abilities in time for the 2015 Games.
|
Our research has led us to explore Twitter and it is amazing the
wealth of information that available to netork. Our vision (hint to those who also want to build a Parapan themed website
- for we need many to bring the wealth of information resources and awareness to the forefront promoting
sport in our Community - inclusively) will be to not only network information to the visiting
athletes and visitors to Toronto but perhaps most importntly share with aspiring athletes information as to how they can become
involved in the choice of sports and network them via Twitter the pulse of champions - Twitter is such a great medium to share
the trial, tribulations and joys of day to day living - including the challenges and drive for perserverance. As
an example you can follow Rachael Burrows, a paralympic athlete, in wheelchair racing activities. Unfortunately
she suffered a shoulder injury at the Guadalajara Pan Am Games - Let's all beam her some Healing Energy and wish her a speedy
recovery: Visit Rachael's Blog. When you read her story you know she is a champion.

the time leading up to the Games and has been conceived to complement this major sporting event with the
goal of generating resources for the Community so that we can indeed make this the best Games ever.
The method of reporting the news will be much like that
of a Blog with the entries being posted below starting with the most recent.

November 19, 2010: We were looking for a website with
sport descriptions for the Para Pan Am Games sporting events listed on our ParaPanAmGames.ca
website: we are pleased to have discovered Para Sport Ontario.
|
|
|
As such we now have some description
for the various sporting events. Their list is not comprehensive yet so we'll keep searching.
This is indeed a expression of the need to support organizations such as Para Sport Ontario
so that they might indeed have the resources to invest in expanding the descriptions. We are also pleased that their
website is well recognised by Google to the effect that the pages can be translated by Google into
French, Spanish and Portuguese.

October 5, 2010: We need your help in
building this web portal, in particular the 2015 Parapan Am Games websites. As you might have
noticed the Information on the Internet is limited in terms of Parapan Am Games's activities. We have the opportunity
with these two quality Parapan Am Games websites to really shine and as such we welcome your communications. Following is one fabulous website
- subscribe to Play to Podium

|
"Much more than a magazine, Play to Podium
is a bond of popular media – print, internet and social networking – and an assembly of industry partnerships,
providing the disability community a first-rate resource for special needs families on the go."

In this Parapan Am Games News segment
we wanted to celebrate Jeff Tiessen, the publisher and visionary behind Play 2 Podium.
(Click on the above image to visit the website.) We know Jeff from attending the Active Living conference
at Variety Village in Toronto. When you have the opportunity to meet Jeff you'll understand why he
is in our opinion a most amazing person and athlete. Although he deals with his double amputee challenges
there is nothing limiting about this man and no doubt his leadership inspires many others to succeed.
Being a former Paralyic athlete and world record holder we are fortunate to have his
energy in our Community and no doubt he will be an most positive influence in our presenting the best Parapan American
Games ever in 2015.

The new Pan Am Games and ParaPan Am Games logo was unveiled
this past week (Sept. 29, 2010). Right on the date that our CEO of the Games, Mr, Ian Troop, said it
would be, when he gave a speech at the Enable Diversity conference earlier this month.
|
|

While our report of attending the Enable Diversity of Sept.
16th conference can be read in the Sept. 29, 2010 entry of our TorontoPanAmericanGames.ca website it is important to
mention the the noun / verb "incluson" was emphasized in the presentation by Mr. Troop and in stressing that a major
theme of the Games was to celebrate Diversity which includes very much those people with special needs.
